It Feels Like We’re Living Parallel Lives Under the Same Roof
After five years of marriage, my partner and I have hit a rough patch. We used to communicate about everything, but lately, it feels like we’re living parallel lives under the same roof. My job has become more demanding, and they’ve become more involved in their hobbies, leaving little time for us to spend together.
We’ve tried setting aside date nights, but they often get canceled or overshadowed by work or other commitments. It’s reached a point where we barely talk about anything deeper than what’s for dinner or who’s taking out the trash.
The lack of communication has also affected our intimacy. We don’t share the same bed as often, and when we do, it feels like there’s a physical and emotional gap between us. I’ve suggested couples counseling, but my partner is skeptical and believes we can work through our issues on our own, though we haven’t made much progress.
I’m starting to feel lonely in my own marriage and am not sure how to bridge the gap between us. I love my partner and believe in our relationship, but I’m at a loss for how to reconnect and reignite the spark we once had.
What steps can we take to improve our communication and intimacy?
How do we…
